At Aire Valley Psychology, we provide comprehensive ADHD assessments for both adults and children. ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) is a neurodevelopmental condition characterised by symptoms such as inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsiveness. An accurate diagnosis can help individuals better understand their experiences and access tailored support to manage symptoms effectively.

Initial Screening Appointment

The ADHD assessment process begins with an initial screening appointment, which typically lasts up to 90 minutes. During this session, led by a Clinical Psychologist and a Neurodevelopmental Practitioner, we will discuss your reasons for seeking an ADHD evaluation and go over the assessment process in detail. We will ask you to complete screening questionnaires before the appointment, which will help us gather important background information.

At the conclusion of this meeting, we will provide a summary of our findings and recommend whether to proceed with the full ADHD assessment.

ADHD Assessments West Yorkshire

If the initial screening indicates that further assessment is needed, we will move on to a thorough evaluation, which follows the National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) guidelines. This comprehensive process includes:

  • Symptom Review: We will conduct a detailed assessment of symptoms such as inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity, based on criteria from the DSM-5.
  • Developmental History: A full developmental and behavioural history will be gathered to understand how symptoms have impacted daily functioning over time.
  • QBCheck: We use QBCheck, a computer-based test designed to objectively measure attention, impulse control, and motor activity. This test provides valuable insights by comparing the individual’s performance against established norms, offering a clear picture of ADHD symptoms.

Next Steps and Recommendations

Once the assessment is complete, we provide a detailed report with the outcome of the evaluation, including whether an ADHD diagnosis is appropriate. We also offer personalised recommendations for managing ADHD symptoms, which may include therapeutic support, lifestyle adjustments, or referrals to other specialists if necessary. Our goal is to support each person’s growth, recognising that an ADHD diagnosis is the beginning of a journey toward improved wellbeing.
