Child Clinical Psychology
Children’s Clinical Psychology
The most common therapies we offer to children include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). These therapies will be adapted to the developmental age of your child. For Adolescents few adaptations may be needed but for younger children sessions will be focussed around play and drawing. Parental involvement will depend on the age of the child and will be carefully considered on an individual basis. Younger children often have a parent accompany them to a session whereas older children / adolescents often have sessions without parents present.
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)
Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)
Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing is specialised psychotherapy used for a variety of difficulties. It can be helpful when a child has witnessed or experienced an adverse event (such as an accident) or when they have developed a phobia or anxiety disorder. This therapy aims to target painful and unpleasant memories and help the mind heal, using light and eye movement.
