Clinical Psychology Ilkley

Aire Valley Psychology gives Ilkley residents access to a Chartered Clinical Psychologist, Dr Samantha Masley, for adult and child clinical psychology plus private Autism and ADHD assessments.

Why Ilkley Residents Choose Us

Not every difficulty needs years of talking, but some do need the right person guiding the process. Whether it’s anxiety that’s crept into everyday decisions, a low mood that won’t lift, or the strain of living with a health condition that isn’t going away, the difference between a generic service and a specialist one often shows up in how quickly things start to shift.

For Ilkley residents, that specialist is close by. Aire Valley Psychology operates from East Morton, a short journey from Ilkley, and keeps its client numbers deliberately limited so that Dr Masley’s time and attention aren’t stretched thin.

Adult Clinical Psychology

One-to-one work for anxiety, depression, stress, panic, obsessive compulsive difficulties and trauma, together with support for the psychological impact of chronic pain and other long-term health conditions. Treatment draws on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, EMDR, ACT, Mindfulness and Schema Therapy, selected according to what fits the person.

Child Clinical Psychology

Therapy for children and adolescents adapted to their developmental stage, from play and drawing for younger children through to more adult-style sessions for teenagers, with family involvement adjusted to suit each case.

Autism Assessments

Private, NICE-aligned Autism assessments for adults and children begin with an initial screening appointment before moving to a full evaluation where needed. The full assessment includes developmental history, ADOS-2 and, for children, school observation where applicable.

ADHD Assessments

Private, NICE-aligned ADHD assessments follow the same initial screening process before a full evaluation, which includes a detailed symptom review, developmental history and QBCheck, a computer-based measure of attention, impulse control and motor activity set against established norms.

Professional Referrals

Medico-Legal assessments and reports for adult trauma, produced by a practitioner who has completed Expert Witness Training with Bond Solon, together with clinical supervision for other mental health professionals.

Testimonials

"Sam, I can't thank you enough for getting me through these last couple of months. I've finally had a taste of the 'old me' back and I'm excited to work on what you've taught me"
"Thank you for helping me over the last few months. I'll miss our sessions but I'm feeling a lot more confident and positive about what I was struggling with"
"This is no sausage factory assessor, Samantha cares and gets to really know you."
"I felt instantly at ease with Samantha and Joe, they seem to take pride in their roles and work to properly understand you and your history."
"After having a combined Autism and ADHD assessment later in life with Samantha I feel like I know myself fully and can better design my life now."
"The NHS wouldn't assess me as I was working and in their eyes functioning slash coping. In the background I felt I was failing as I had struggled socially my whole life, not progressed at work due to various oversights on my part and I had had two huge burnouts that had undermined my confidence. I had also blown up multiple friendships and felt very low in myself. I decided to pay for a private assessment to figure myself out. It was amazing. Samantha took the time to hear my story and helped me construct a new narrative. I learned to forgive myself and most importantly how to take care of myself. My assessment was 6 months ago and I am going from strength to strength. Thank you Samantha."
